EXPERTISE
Geontics provides skills and expertise acquired in unique research and development challenges, requiring the integration of geospatial functionality with advanced computational capabilities such as decision-making, intelligent interfaces, mobile computing, situation assessment and global planning. Our experience is anchored in developing one-of-a-kind, mission-critical applications and in addressing research challenges in high-value operational domains.
Geontics core capabilities are currently centred on integrating real-time geospatial information with intelligent decision-making components. Our main application area is the optimisation of business-to-customer logistics frameworks, by reducing or eliminating the adverse impact of parties not being able to fulfil delivery commitments due to last minute events. In partnership we large B2C companies and service providers, we work to assess how our approach can be used to reduce losses, eliminate unnecessary road traffic, and reduce carbon emmissions.
Geontics was founded in 2006 by Dan Grecu in continuation of his previous activity in raising funding and managing high-risk, advanced technology projects.
A former Fulbright scholar, Dan earned a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for his work on adapting computer-based design processes to complex engineering problems. In 1997 Dan joined Charles River Analytics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where as a Principal Scientist he raised project funding, managed and lead the implementation of advanced technology projects in a highly competitive funding market. Dan's innovative approaches to decision and risk management have attracted R&D project funding from NASA and the Department of Defense. Several of the projects have led to the development of pre-commercial capabilities in the areas of geospatial information fusion, sequential pattern analysis and human-machine interaction.
